The 106 rear suspension was designed to get around the regulations of turreting in rallying and to bring the damper ratio back 1:1 with the wheel rate (The torsion bars are still used). The kit allows a massive array of aftermarket shock absorbers and spring rates with easy adjustments to ride height and droop.
